Rudy Gobert was born on June 26, 1992, in Saint-Quentin, France, and is the son of Didier Gobert, a former professional basketball player. He began his basketball journey in France, playing for local clubs before joining the Cholet Basket youth program.
Gobert moved to the United States to play college basketball at the University of Georgia and declared for the NBA Draft, where he was selected 27th overall by the Denver Nuggets in 2013 and subsequently traded to the Utah Jazz. Renowned for his defensive skills, Gobert has won multiple NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards and earned All-Star selections before joining the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2022.
